The owner-builder has no customer.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\" style=\"height: 50px;\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\u00a0<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><br \/><strong>Obligations of the general contractor<\/strong><br \/>The general contractor must in particular:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>hold a contractor&#8217;s license and pay for its maintenance;<\/li>\r\n<li>guarantee a financial guarantee or be accredited to the guarantee plan, depending on the license category;<\/li>\r\n<li>ensure the quality of the work it performs and its management;<\/li>\r\n<li>verify in the Register of License Holders that the contractor they hire, if applicable, has a license and the appropriate subcategories;<\/li>\r\n<li>coordinate the work of specialized contractors engaged in a construction project;<\/li>\r\n<li>ensure that specialty contractors meet construction standards;<\/li>\r\n<li>ensure that the work is always compliant after the intervention of other contractors or their employees.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\" style=\"height: 52px;\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\u00a0<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Obligations of the general owner-builder<\/strong><br \/>The general owner-builder must in particular:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>hold an owner-builder&#8217;s license and pay for its maintenance;<\/li>\r\n<li>ensure the quality of the work it performs and its management;<\/li>\r\n<li>verify in the Register of License Holders that the contractor they hire, if applicable, has a license and the appropriate subcategories;<\/li>\r\n<li>coordinate the work of specialized contractors engaged in a construction project;<\/li>\r\n<li>ensure that specialty contractors meet construction standards;<\/li>\r\n<li>ensure that the work is always compliant after the intervention of other contractors or their employees.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\" style=\"height: 53px;\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\u00a0<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Obligations of the specialist contractor and owner-builder<\/strong><br \/>The specialized contractor and owner-builder are responsible for the quality of the work they perform according to the license subcategories they have. <br \/><br \/><strong>Obligations regarding construction work<\/strong><br \/>The contractor or owner-builder who carries out or has construction work carried out must:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>declare their construction work to the R\u00e9gie du b\u00e2timent du Qu\u00e9bec if they are in the following areas:\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>elevators and other elevating devices, except maintenance, repair or demolition work,<\/li>\r\n<li>building, unless a building permit is required by the municipality,<\/li>\r\n<li>gas, except construction work on an installation intended to distribute natural gas by pipeline and maintenance or repair work on an installation intended to use, store or distribute gas,<\/li>\r\n<li>games and rides,<\/li>\r\n<li>plumbing,<\/li>\r\n<li>electricity, except work mentioned in a connection request made to a public electricity distribution company or work involving a power of not more than 10 kW which does not require replacement or addition of wiring;<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<li>provide the R\u00e9gie with a certificate of compliance for the work carried out in the following areas:\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>games and rides,<\/li>\r\n<li>ski lifts, depending on the type of work carried out,<\/li>\r\n<li>high risk petroleum equipment;<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<li>prepare plans and specifications before starting work in the following areas:\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>elevators and other lifting devices,<\/li>\r\n<li>lifts;<\/li>\r\n<li>games and rides,<\/li>\r\n<li>building if the building is subject,<\/li>\r\n<li>electricity, if the connection has more than 200 kW,<\/li>\r\n<li>plumbing, if the installation includes more than 180 venting factors.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\" style=\"height: 57px;\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\u00a0<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\r\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong><br \/>Construction plans and specifications must be to scale and indicate the nature and details of the work.
