Central Park Tower: Tallest residential tower in the world

For the first time in 5 years, the tallest building delivered in 2020 is not in China, but in the United States.

Also known as Nordstrom Tower , this is Central Park Tower which, with 98 floors, culminates in the very respectable height of 472 m antenna not included and becomes the tallest housing building on the planet.

Central Park Tower is located along Billionaires’ Row on 57th Street in Midtown Manhattan, New York City.

Designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, the building is the second tallest skyscraper in the United States and the Western Hemisphere, the 13th tallest building in the world, the tallest residential building in the world, and the tallest building outside Asia by the height of the roof.

Central Park Tower was developed by Extell Development Company and Shanghai Municipal Investment Group.  

The lower floors of the building contain a large Nordstrom store , the first in New York. Occupying an area of 29,700 square meters distributed over seven floors , this store represents the most important and the best expression of the brand’s identity.

After 30 years of searching for the ideal location, this fashion brand based in Seattle  chose the Central Park Tower to bring his project to life, which represents his biggest investment for an individual project since its inception over 100 years ago  years.  

The eastern part of the tower contains a cantilever above the Art Students League of New York building at 215 West 57th Street, intended for maximize the view of Central Park near .

The residential part of the tower contains 179 luxury condominiums. In total, the Central Park tower cost $ 3 billion to build.  

The second tallest building delivered in 2020 is also in New York. It’s One Vanderbilt, with 59 floors and 427m in height.
