Although there is still uncertainty for 2021, industry activity is expected to return to normal in most sectors in 2021.
RESIDENTIAL SECTOR
The liveliness of the sector Residential will remain for a good part of next year, despite a slight decline expected.
The outlook for 2021 suggests a rebound in residential renovation investments.
INSTITUTIONAL AND COMMERCIAL SECTOR
Growth is expected mainly due to multiple institutional projects. The CCQ no longer counts the construction projects of seniors’ houses, repair, renovation and expansion of schools and hospitals.
A small reservation on the side of commercial construction should be noted since major real estate projects for commercial and residential purposes are already underway, and few new investment announcements are made due to economic uncertainty.
CIVIL ENGINEERING AND ROADS SECTOR
Work in the Civil Engineering and Roads sector will remain at roughly the same level as in 2020.
The roads and infrastructure sub-sector will show a slowdown due to an anticipated drop in municipal investment.
The hydroelectric sub-sector, for its part, will rebound with projects for power plants and power lines.
INDUSTRIAL SECTOR
The industrial sector will continue to idle, for lack of major projects, their investments being postponed. The situation still takes into account the economic uncertainty created by the pandemic.
TO NOTE
The industry is still struggling with labor shortages.
This should force the CCQ to open up its labor pools, to which the call almost exclusively from untrained workers responds.
