Subclass 15.5.1

This subclass authorizes maintenance work relating to the plumbing systems in any building or construction, including the piping and all the accessories used for drainage or drip, for the rear ventilation of siphons, for the hot or cold water supply or for gas supply.

It also authorizes construction work relating to the plumbing systems referred to in the first paragraph and which is carried out on the territory of a local municipality whose population does not exceed 5,000 inhabitants, unless there is a public sewer there, or in an unorganized territory.

In addition, this subclass authorizes construction work relating to plumbing installations which are not installations of a building and which are located outside.

Finally, it authorizes related construction work.

This subclass is fully included in subclass 15.5.

This subclass includes in particular construction work relating to:

• work included in Chapter III of the Quebec Construction Code and in Chapter I of the Safety Code;
• the installation of water meters;
• the installation of waste shredders;
• the installation of the gas supply piping;
• the installation and replacement of water heaters (connection to the energy source requires the appropriate subclass);
• the installation of solar collectors;
• the installation of water treatment systems (softener, filters, etc.);
• the installation of lift pumps for drains;
• plumbing installations not attached to a building:
  • installation supplied directly by the aqueduct or by a source other than the plumbing system of a building:
    • fountain in a park;
    • watering and irrigation (in an orchard, a field);
    • basin and fountain with water jets;
    • waterslide;
    • swimming pool;
    • snow cannon feed system;
    • supply and evacuation system of a campground;
  • installation supplied by the plumbing system of a building:
    • watering and irrigation of the land of a building;
    • basin and fountain with water jets;
    • waterslide;
    • swimming pool.

NB: In order to check if the municipality is one of the municipalities where there is no public sewer and whose population does not exceed 5,000 inhabitants and if there is a public sewer, we refer to the Ministère des Affaires municipales et de l’Habitation (www.mamh.gouv.qc.ca/publications/publications-en-anglais/ ).

WATER PUMPS:

Although he can assemble the pump inside the building, the groundwater pumping contractor ( 2.3 ) cannot connect it to the building’s plumbing network, this work falling under subclass 15.5 or 15.5.1.

NO LICENSE IS REQUIRED FOR WORK:

• relating to the thawing of pipes;
• cleaning of drains;
• aimed at purging hot and cold water pipes and water heaters and pouring an antifreeze solution into the siphons of the various devices connected to the plumbing network.
